Musicians not Musicals
This was for a #bachelorette party. Yes, we had our cowgirl hats on.
We took direct flights from Pittsburgh to #Nashville for our weekend away. Our group of girls took a taxi to The Hilton downtown, Nashville. The city was crazy as it was also the weekend of the NCAA Women’s basketball tournament (Final 4). Stanford was staying at the same hotel as us, and we were able to enjoy a show from the band in the lobby. (Women basketball players are tall, towering... Yes, I’m 5’3. But until you are standing next to someone that tall, sheesh.)
Once we got there, we had rented a bike bar and went all around the city on Friday. We rented from the Pedal Tavern.
We had a great tour guide, she had the bachelorette party music ready, and had everyone taking part to drink and enjoy. This was BYOB and was about 1.5 hours. We did Broadway, and also some of the midtown areas. While on the bike, we made about 4 stops at the bars to take advantage of the specials (I’m pretty sure we stopped at AJs, and Swingin Doors), and then a few stops to take some photo ops at different locations in the city. This is when most of us had our cowgirl hats on. (If you have never been on a bike bar, and the bike you rent does not have an engine, be prepared to actually bike!).
From here we got ready and went out to Broadway at night. We ended up spending time at Honky Tonk Central since it is 3-story and provides different atmospheres. Late In the evening and into the early morning, we ended up going to a girl’s night out at a club as well… talk about an experience.
On Saturday, most of the group got up and grabbed some food at Tootsies. Even at 11 am they had live music During the day we all hung out, then headed to get blowouts (we wanted bug) for the night.
After the blowouts, we went back to the hotel room, started the bachelorette games, then headed to dinner at a BBQ place outside of the city (we had to take a taxi there). After dinner, we took the taxi back right into Broadway. Again, music was live everywhere. The bands were great and very talented. They know every brand-new song that just came out, plus all of the older popular bar songs. We did notice the popular bands switched venues from Friday night, but they drew a crowd. Most bars have a stage to bring up the brides, and a ton of dancing. Just about everyone we talked with (other bachelorette groups, birthday parties, bartenders), were all pretty friendly and just having a good time.
We ended the night on a rooftop bar with drinks and all sitting since our feet hurt from dancing so much.
#Recommendation: For the city of Nashville, be prepared for Broadway to have groups of people (bachelorette/ bachelor/ birthday parties), and for a ton of live music. Take a chance to get out of the city to enjoy what else they have to offer. I recommend to go and to take advantage of the bike bar for transportation to get around. Also, take your hat, get into character!
