What happens in Put-In, stays In Put-In

I’ve been to #PutInBay 2 different times. Both for girls get away weekends. One was for a #bachelorette and the other was #justforfun.

I can tell you this up front, I never made it out for the 2nd night, on either trip. Also, it is not recommended to go with your significant other as there is a lot of innocent flirting.

Put-In Bay is an island in #Ohio in Lake Erie called South Bass Island. It is for all ages. You have the older groups that drive around in the golf carts and are really enjoying their time for a getaway, and then you have the younger groups that have been drinking since they woke up and leave not remembering their time.

To get to Put-in Bay, you need to take a Ferry Boat. You leave your car in a parking lot and get your ticket for the Ferry, either the Miller Ferry or Jet Express at different locations.

Once you lade at the island, there are taxis, golf carts, or vans to take you where you need to go. You will need some sort of travel off of the Ferry to your hotel. Usually, everyone is so friendly and nice, all you have to do is ask to hitch a ride to your hotel, and you are guaranteed someone will take you there.

Check in to your hotel, get your alcohol and snacks, turn on some music, and start getting ready for dinner and the night out. You will have both casual groups and dressed up groups, go with the flow, and just make sure you are comfortable to walk. There are a ton of restaurants and bars to eat and drink at, it just matters where you can get a reservation for a group. Just make sure you stop at the Beer Barrel Saloon for the longest bar in the world. And most likely you will end up at some point at Mr. Eds. Everyone is very friendly and most have the mindset, just to hang out and have a good time. You’ll be sure to make friends instantly and be talking to many different groups of people. Be prepared for a ton of bachelorette and bachelor groups. Girls, get creative with your bride apparel to stand out but be sure to make friends with everyone.

You will most likely be sleeping in and hung over on Saturday, so make sure you have plenty of Red bull, unhealthy snacks, Gatorade, water, and some dark circle concealer (both for guys and girls). Get yourself together, casual of course, and head to brunch, again, there are many options for food, but recommend to go somewhere outside to feel the breeze and sunshine to wake you up. Take a walk around the main streets for some shopping, then grab your bloody marry and mimosa and head back to get ready to go to the pool bar. You will want to end up at the MIST Pool Bar at the Commodore Resort on Saturday.

This place is the #1 spot on a with a full-service swim-up bar, so be sure to wear your suit. It was also (at one time) the world’s largest swim-up bar. Make sure to take some shots, if you look down in the water but the afternoon, you will see the filtering system may need to be updated, but with a few drinks, you won’t care getting dunked or playing chicken.

The afternoon will slowly turn to early evening and people will start to filter back to their rooms, grab some food (some good pizza from Cameo Pizza), and continue the partying. Seriously, you will have parties going on at the hotel on your floor, most doors are just open. Or if you stay at a house, most people are in the yards hanging out and would welcome you to come party with them if you are walking down the street.

The evening turns to night, and if you are like me and had too much fun during the day, you will sit down before you start getting ready for dinner and take a nap. My naps turned into my sleep for the night. I wasn’t kidding when I said I didn’t make it out on Saturday night. I can imagine the bars are still open and that the people that make it out are champs.

You wake up on Saturday. If you are like me, you wake up at 1 am, asking everyone to get ready and go out because you got some sleep and want to continue to party. Or you wake up on Saturday, hung over, having to get on a ferry and drive yourself home.

#Recommendation: Have a buddy system so you are not walking around by yourself, even if it isn’t someone from the group you came with. Have fun, go with a group of people that will have a good time, and check your hotel room for the number of occupants allowed, not the number of beds.
