Maryland Crabs

I’ve been to #Maryland two times now. I’ve stayed in Annapolis, and then also stayed in Elkridge, but ventured to #Annapolis as well. I see a pattern.

Annapolis is beautiful, quaint, walkable, and to be honest, has some of the nicest people I’ve met from many different families considering the majority are from Baltimore (reminder Steeler and Ravens are rivals), and Annapolis is known for snobby people, not like us Yinzers'. The first time I went to MD, I was there for a wedding, the wedding was beautiful on the water, pretty sure it was from a modern-day fairy tale book with a big church (most likely catholic), a horse and carriage ride for the newlyweds, and a reception on the water at the Annapolis Waterfront Hotel, with the night ending at the hotel bar with everyone from the wedding laying on tables and in booths passing out, classy. The rehearsal dinner was on the water, at the grandparents’ house of the bride. I'm pretty sure the entire neighborhood walked there and was invited, with kids running around and chasing each other in the yard, with a big tire swing over the water, cocktail tables with white table cloths blowing in the light breeze and a bonfire at night.

The second time I went was for a friends shower/ bachelorette for one side of the family (the #Pittsburgh girl marrying a Maryland boy) also (see Las Vegas Bachelorette for the other side… well really just the main girls trip. We got wild). We stayed at the bride's cousins’ house (actually townhouse, but it was HUGE, I’m pretty sure I had the entire downstairs basement to myself), back then it was an up and coming area, I am not sure what it is like now. But they hosted us like family, we even had mini goodie bags for staying (it included a recipe for homemade Maryland style crab cakes (you know the "crab cakes and football… that’s what Maryland does", anyway, I still have the recipe), also (good time to insert a Pinterest call out for stay-over welcome bags, they are pretty cute). The shower was great, and the people and women were all so nice and friendly. The homemade food for the shower was amazing, I guess that is what you get for the Italian families. We all went out at night to the bard in Annapolis. It was beautiful weather, I’m sure it rained, but since you are on the water and it was hot, it was considered beautiful. We had blue crab for dinner and got dirty even with a bib, then I had way too many drinks to let you know where I went, but I know it was a fun time. Blue crabs are a must, the bride from the trip had crabs imported to Pittsburgh for her rehearsal dinner, I still have my crab mallet.

But truly, take a #weekendtrip and go, highly recommended. Just on your way home, don’t stop at a #TacoBell, my friends don’t trust Baltimore gas station restrooms anymore.
