So my second trip out of the country was with my (now husband), but boyfriend in 2013 when we went to #Canada to go to #NiagaraFalls. We live north of Pittsburgh, PA, so it is a little car drive there. Clearly, I have been sheltered in my life, this was my first time to Canada, meanwhile, you can drink at age 19, I guess that’s what fake IDs are for, or maybe the people I was hanging out prior to 21 were too cheap to go, who knows.
When we got close to the border, I remember being so nervous about my cell phones, I had 2 phones, one for work and one for personal use. As we crossed over into the Canadian terrain, our phones started updating and pinging off of CA towers with messages, I immediately sent emails to HR and travel for work to make sure it was OK, this was before face time, and we all had iPhone 4's.
We came up to customs, now this was nothing like the customs I went through coming home from my 3-day cruise (see All Aboard): For customs getting back into the states in Florida from a cruise to the Bahamans, I again, so naïve, didn’t know if the border police really wanted to know that I spent my money on a t-shirt with a dolphin on it and that I was still upset about my $15 drinks on the boat that I decided I was keeping all of my carnival fun cups. (FYI, he didn’t’ care), Clearly, he let me pass through, but I remember people giving me dirty looks when I was getting questioned, (again I had no idea why he wanted to know what I had spent my money on). (Sheesh, this coming back to me being sheltered again).
For the US to CA, we got across the border just fine, I'm pretty sure they said "sure, come on in".
From there, we drove to the actual Niagara Falls, at 9 pm and it was FREEZING, it was so cold, literally, the water was frozen in chunks coming down the falls and there were mounds of snow all around, (yes, this was mid to late February...). But there was no one out there, and it was beautiful. The light up the falls at night in different colors, very strange and somewhat scary, but it was romantic and fun.

By the end of the day, we ended up at the #Casino and just had a blast. If you are into different types of games, this place had the largest #Baccarat area I’ve ever seen.
On our way home we stopped at this little pizza place called Zappi’s, you gotta try it, plus they use #Heinzketchup in large double packs.
Going back across the border we were questioned, but not too much, the US didn’t care at that time.
For your next #quicktrip or #weekendgetaway go to see the falls.
